Abstract
Urachal cancer is rare, accounting for less than 1% of bladder neoplasms. Urachal remnants persist in and above the bladder, and urachal carcinoma may arise from any of these segments. The recommended treatment is primarily surgical, with extended partial cystectomy, en bloc excision of the urachal mass, urachal tract and umbilicus, and pelvic lymph node dissection. Although most urachal cancer invades the bladder, it is associated with a poor prognosis due to advanced stage at diagnosis, and extravesical tumor growth favoring local recurrence and distant metastases. We present a patient of local invasive urachal adenocarcinoma of the bladder, who was treated with partial cystectomy and en bloc excision of urachus, and adjuvant radiotherapy. She had been well without evidance of local recurrence or distant metastasis for up to 36 months of follow-up periods. A brief review of the literatures of urachal adenocarcinoma is made.
